Judith has been a huge fan of the Funquest bloodline since she was a child. When she was eleven, her mother took her to Kansas to bring back a young stallion from Stewart Hazard's farm. From then on, she was hooked!
We first became aware of Shulla when we were searching for a horse with that Funquest bloodline. We searched and searched and searched until we found a 100% Funquest stallion in Northern British Columbia named Bramblerun Thunder Quest. When we contacted the owner, she informed us that she had "just" gelded Quest as she wanted out of the breeding game. She mentioned that she still had a yearling filly for sale named Shulla. She mailed us pictures and a short video of Shulla. In the video, Shulla was being chased around the arena the first time she had been in the building.
We were very impressed and purchased Shulla the very same night we received the video/picture package in the mail. We went and picked Shulla up between Christmas and New Year's of that year - 2006.
Shulla is a very friendly young mare. She is bold and confident and is 100% all heart to whatever tasks Greg asks of her. The fall of 2007, we took Shulla as a halter-broke 2 year old to a Driving Clinic. After three weekends of clinic, Shulla is driving with safety and confidence. With her suspension and movement, she is just incredible to watch - not to mention to drive. Just a typical Funquest horse!!
Greg saddled Shulla up the summer of 2008. She stood for him to mount like she had been ridden for years. He only has ridden her lightly in 2008 but she goes with such confidence, that the fourth time on her back, we went down the road and through the back pastures.
This girl has an incredible top line. She has clean straight legs, and a kind, intelligent eye. We are very excited about the lovely mare that Shulla has matured into.
