MIA-MAR REMO
Most of Remo's pictures were taken in September a week after his weaning.
Celeste Brown was kind enough to call me as soon as my newly acquired mare, Surprize foaled. She did not expect Surprize to foal so early but she surprised Cheleste anyway. Surprize picked an old pile of hay out of the snow to deliver her baby. Apparently she wanted to have it outside before Celeste had a chance to put her in the barn and prep her for delivery. These mares do have a mind of their own when it comes to foaling.
I let my son, Royce name this new babe. Royce is a drummer and he tossed a couple of names around before we chose one. The name that he picked out is Remo. Acording to Royce, this is a superior drum skin maker. With the sire's name being Drumlin Pal, a drum name seems appropriate to me. So Remo it is. I don't think we have ever named a foal so quickly.
Remo came home at the end of May with his dam and I couldn't have been more pleased. I let them settle in for a couple of days before I started handling them. Remo proved to be smart and trusting and It wasn't long before I felt comfortable turning them out to pasture with the other mares and foals.
This colt has really stollen my heart. It took a while to get used to his clear blue eyes, but now I think they are pretty. To be honest though, I'm still not crazy about his pink skin. But what has taken my heart is his heart... he is sooooo fun to work with.
